006. SIMULATION PHASE VI ; VIDEO [Nov. 12th, 2009|01:29 am]
Nuadoria, from now on you will hopefully find the map to be of more use than a simple navigational tool.

[your little communicators will not look or do anything much different as of yet, but you will at least notice you now have a mini map in the corner marking your position and various other dots within the vicinity of you (although you can't tell who they are) and the faint hint of color washing over the gray transparency of the the map itself.]

And I trust you each have become acquainted with your familiar? If not, please take the time to do so, they are important to increasing your chances for survival.

Please avoid unfortunate accidents, particularly those ending in the death of yourself or another. Niflheim is currently not in any condition to safely house your souls and there will be no responsibility taken should something unfortunate happen to you if you find yourself there due to ignorance despite this hazard advisory.

001 ---------- video; x [Sep. 15th, 2009|08:03 am]
[video turns on, but the screen's back and blurry and the only sound that can be heard is something that sounds oddly like the purring of a cat. After a moment the culprit is found when it lifts its nose from the screen to stare down at the video feed—surprise! It's Dalamar, or for those of you who don't know Dalamar, a fluffy cheetah-esque cat—curiously.

It's familiar, Dalamar is sure (the last one he had got smashed into tiny little pieces). But, he still goes to paw pathetically at it as if he has no idea what it is and it'll make a difference, somehow. Paw paw paaaaaw and theeenn smacks his head on it futilely. Maybe he's trying to break it. Or get it to do something.

...Or just hurt himself in the process of touching things he shouldn't.

There's a small whine, and the animal sits back pathetically, a little 'mew' (wtfwtf) escaping and just sits there. SOMEONE COME BABYSIT PLZ. ALL ALONE BECAUSE HE RAN OFF TO POUT?? :(

Oh, but, your characters will find it oddly coincidental that after this video feed, the filter/private function will start working 100% properly again. And, yes, it's just a coincidence, he's just stealing stuff that isn't his again while other people try to be productive members of society ok.]

...Well, in light of recent events, I do believe we've been going about this entirely the wrong way.

This hasn't ever happened before, but there's a first time for everything. [he laughs, although his tone gets strained and irritated as he mutters more to himself than to microphone.] Ohhh, how I do hate being wrong, though...

[A pause. And then he's back to being mostly chipper.] —We got off on the wrong foot. Do allow me to offer my sincerest apologies for any trouble we've caused you. It seems you are more than capable of causing it for yourselves.

So, in good spirits, I suppose a being such as myself has little to offer other than information. I'm sure you've had your stomachs full with the Magisters, but just in case: one question; one answer. Ask wisely, ask well. It's the least I can do.

If not, perhaps we'll see each other around again.

[Silence. And then a vaguely amused sigh.] Perhaps not. As long as you all don't get yourselves killed, that is.

If any of you are within proximity of the Magisters or High Priestess Erielle, I advise you to immediately evacuate yourselves for your own safety. ...Not that... nevermind, that is not factual data and thus irrelevant.

Grand Masters, High Priestess, I highly advise you avoid your hunters at all costs. It would be unfortunate for you to meet premature ends. Please do not engage unless absolutely necessary; it seems you cannot overpower the hunter that targets you in particular, but at present I have no factual information on them.

003. SIMULATION PHASE III ; VOICE [Mar. 5th, 2009|08:19 pm]
[Everyone's communicators will beep, signifying an automatic update to their communicators. A short while later, Lilith's voice will be heard. No video this time.]

Spike Spiegel. As requested, the latest update to the device software provides... a musical option.

I still do not understand the functionality of this mechanism or why you would require it in such a place, but I do hope this fulfills your request.


[For those interested, there is a music library now on the communicators, compiled of various music—both local to Nuadoria and from your characters' homeworlds as well. If they've heard it/have a vivid memory of it that they could practically hear it in their head if they tried, consider it selectable in the list as... well, we'll save that explanation for another time. Songs are accessible to all, and more will enter the library as more characters from other worlds come or characters from similar worlds with different music tastes.]

000 ---------- video; x [Feb. 23rd, 2009|08:09 pm]
[there's the sound of a transmission clicking on and the fizzle of static like an attempted video feed went to go on and failed, only the odd sound of scraping and odd 'crunching' being heard. After a few seconds though there will be a small flash of light when something moves and it'll be able to be seen that the video feed didn't die but rather, the camera was in something's mouth and is now being dropped out of it.

A snout and whiskers press against the screen, curiously and then with a small bang of the head like the animal is trying to get it to do something. Finally Dalamar is fully visible as he lifts his up and pulls away, looking disinterested in his new toy and coming to sit, looking away as if he's giving it the cold shoulder. Oh yes, he will show it who is boss, along with a slightly irritated 'mya'.

But this harsh lesson teaching will have to wait, because there's a sharp whistle, probably Caim, and Dalamar turns and runs off, leaving the communicator there, the video feed still running. Pointless video feed now, really—not that the cat chewing on it before was meaningful—only recording eerie gray stone matted with grit and other things that aren't quite possible to make out but probably don't want to be known and dark skies. But, then there's the small 'thud'.

And it grows louder, like something is approaching. That something, or something on it, rattles, like the tail of a rattlesnake before the last thing that can be seen on the communicator is some sharp skeletal bone colliding down towards the camera; crushing into it and breaking the transmission all together.]

Atmosphere testing has confirmed this as a stabilized version of Nuadoria's fire plane. Thermal low pressure in place, highly unstable atmosphere. Air quality is poor, with a finely grated ash contamination. Faint traces of other particles and gases have been detected. Dangerous to health in long term exposure. It is advised to use extreme caution when venturing outdoors. Please take appropriate care.

...There is a button on your headsets, near the one that allows you to activate your visor shields. It is not perfect, but it should be able to assist those who insist on fighting in this poor air quality.

[For anyone who is curious/willing enough to take her advice, pressing the button she mentions on the headset will produce a lower shield mask over the nose and mouth area. As stated, it is not a perfect gas mask, but it will help with filtering the air as a temporary solution to the issue. Don't abuse it. You can still suffocate yourselves even with it activated.]

One result found. However, I do not know if it is a logical answer to your issues. You will need the Fire Magister's permissions, as well, to attempt such a task. Chances of the plane receding and Nuadoria returning to normal without any action is 50%.

[All communicators will beep, and the sound will be familiar for long time residents as notification that something has changed on the devices, internally—or, maybe in this case, externally. After a moment, if the characters are wearing the earpieces to their communicators, one of their new "upgrades" will activate: a tinted "visor shield" will slide out from the earpiece automatically and over their eyes (from one ear to the other), and project the data from their communicator screens through the visor instead. A video transmission cuts in, presenting the image of an expressionless young woman, and when she speaks, her voice gives off the same demeanor.]

As per my master's orders, your network permissions have been upgraded. I feel it foolish to give such power to strangers, especially ones easily swayed by false words. Therefore, do not give reason for such to be revoked.

I am the network admin. If you need assistance, perhaps I may aid you where the magisters and the royalty will fail to do so.

Since you will help! [While this information pertains selectively to the seven, all communicators will automatically download a new file. The file will open, displaying a map of the dam, and marker points. There are seven clustered on the dam bridge, and somewhere far down in probably what is the center is a flashing light.]

Hmmm... Difficult to explain like this. So sorry. 'Friends' need to get to the marker. The generator room. Two things. Generators are off long time now. Need to turn back on. But demons live here. Protect it. Turned generators off even before flood. So maybe they will not work.... but... no choice. Only hope.

Also. There is a shield and a book. I need them. Bring them out.

I will help from here. I can't enter. Barrier. But foreign bodies? Demons don't recognize. Barrier will fail.

[the communicators will crackle to life and while it most certainly will sound like Heine, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out it's not. There's a hint of otherworldly presence, a hiss in the back of its words. The most obvious would be the tone lacking an true emotion, and the sentences are abrupt. This thing isn't going to be able to speak to you in depth by any means. although the short sentences are stern... and it perhaps is feigning... annoyance with the lot of you. It won't speak to you other than in Heine's or Rikku's voice, because it's mostly a zombie with words without a mirror to leech on.]

Unacceptable.

Bored? Destroying things? This is not yours to destroy.

[a short pause.]


Very well. I have something. ...Familiar?

Go play.


[You're going to hear the pleasant sound of something waking up. And, your characters perhaps won't need very long to see it. It's coming from the north by the damn. Here you go. And...this will go on until a native calls it off.]
